Dr. Coats moved to Ft. Wayne in 1978 after completing his training at Indiana University School of Medicine and residency training at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and has been board certified since.

Dr. Coats' special interests are vaginal and reconstructive surgery, infertility and menopause. However, he still enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology after 29 years of practice.

Dr. Coats has been President of Indiana State ACOG (2003 - 2006), was the first President of the Medical Staff of Dupont Hospital (2002 - 2003), is a volunteer Associate Clinical Professor at Indiana University for longer than 20 years, and still enjoys teaching medical students and residents. He is also active speaking to physicians and patients about current and the newest trends and treatments in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Coats states, "After almost 30 years practicing obstetrics and gynecology in Fort Wayne, I still get excited each day serving my patients."

Dr. Coats has office hours at both the West Jefferson and Dupont locations.
